MyiLibrary on Macs

Addendum to last week's message about Mac users requiring a plug-in to access MyiLibrary: Version 6.0 no longer requires plug-in.

From Jennifer:

FYI, I discovered that Mac users require a Firefox plug-in to view eBooks from MyiLibrary. Without it, the user can see the table of contents, but not the content itself. Instructions below.

From MyiLibrary help menu:
The latest versions of Adobe Reader do not support viewing PDF files within Firefox on Mac OS. However, if you download the 'Firefox PDF Plugin for Mac OS X', our e-books launch seamlessly in a Macintosh/Firefox environment with this plugin. You can find this plugin here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7518.

Shifting from 4th to 6th floor

Good morning,

It was confirmed to me this morning that the Scott Transport will begin moving the books on the 4th floor to the sixth floor beginning today. As a result of the move, all books with call numbers beginning with D will be located together. When the compact shelving was installed on the sixth floor, empty space was left after the Cs to accommodate the material on the 4th floor. The only exception to this will be the 4th floor folios, which will remain where they are for the time being in anticipation of the move to 5th floor, where all MCL MAIN folios will soon be relocated.

I do not yet know how long the move will last, but my guess is that it will take at least a couple of weeks. We will be updating the range markers daily, and I will make sure adequate signage is in place on the fourth floor to alert users to the books' new location. I will also work with Mutugi to try and keep the online map up to date as quickly as possible, but there may be a time lag before the map is updated. Please let me know if you can think of any other information I can provide that will be helpful to either you or our users.

As far as procedures in the returns room are concerned, for the time being, please continue to place books from D-DE on a separate truck labeled for the 4th floor. Shelvers will shelve them on the appropriate floor according to the progress of the move.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
Eamon
